Youth Work

The majority of youth work delivered by Groundwork Wakefield is through the Motiv8 programme, as well as:

• Young People Friendly Neighbourhoods, linked into the Community Blueprint process
• Junior Homebuilder, linked into the Homebuilder employment programme.

Motiv8 provides an alternative curriculum experience that engages young people and helps them develop essential life skills.

The recruitment of a Connexions Personal Advisor has extended the opportunity for Groundwork to work with 14-19 year olds. Combined with the development of the Motiv8 project this dedicated support has opened up a number of progression routes for young people.

The Motiv8 projects have been so successful in engaging young people that a follow on project is being piloted. Junior Homebuilder will provide participants on the Motiv8 scheme who are interested in careers in construction with the opportunity to receive accredited training and essential work experience.
