Groundwork Wakefield
Since 1998 Groundwork Wakefield has operated an Intermediate Labour Market (ILM) programme. The idea behind the ILM is to provide long term unemployed people, drawn from priority areas, with the opportunity to receive training (both accredited and "on the job") and carry out regeneration projects through practical landscaping in their local area. Not only does this provide participants with the skills necessary to obtain full time sustainable employment but it also allows them to directly benefit the communities in which they live.
The projects are identified from consultation with local communities. This consultation is carried out by Groundwork Wakefield’s community team. The projects are then planned by Groundwork’s landscape design team and delivered by the ILM.
This approach ensures that the projects match the requirements of the community and maximises the benefit of regeneration activity.
Participants who show a high level of commitment progress onto the placement scheme set up by Groundwork Wakefield in partnership with Wakefield Metropolitan District Council.
Recruitment is restricted to European Regional Development Funded Areas within Wakefield and the Five Towns. Please contact us for further information.
