Communities

Agbrigg Road Community Garden openingGroundwork makes long term commitments to supporting specific neighbourhoods by working closely with other organisations and existing initiatives to help improve the quality of life for local residents.

Groundwork Wakefield has delivered projects with local communities since 1987. Common to all of these projects is the engagement of communities throughout project development and delivery.

The Community Team works in areas of need across the District. Activities range from individual projects to the production of plans to regenerate whole estates, known as Blueprints. These neighbourhood masterplans are central to producing long term plans for regeneration across the district.

Groundwork delivers projects to the community through a Joint Venture with Wakefield and District Housing and through funding from the European Regional Development Fund. These projects not only meet the needs of the community but also deliver against the District’s Developing Knowledge Communities strategy and the Government’s Liveability Agenda.
