
Groundwork Wakefield
A common request received by Groundwork Wakefield is for assistance in the reclamation of allotment sites that have become run-down and used for nuisance behaviour (flytipping, vandalism etc.). The Trust’s focus is to turn them into useable community spaces as part of wider neighbourhood planning activities.
Working with local communities Groundwork Wakefield can help to develop projects that regenerate abandoned allotment sites.
The Trust can support the creation of community groups, facilitate the design process for the site, help to create funding packages and assist with funding applications.
Through its Community Pride Contract Teams, Groundwork helps to fund and implement some of these regeneration schemes.
Community Pride gives quality training in hard and soft landscaping to local unemployed people and helps them to find full time employment.
Groundwork runs allotment programmes across the region. This provides a knowledge base and allows other opportunities to be explored.
